Rocío Vergara

Rocío Vergara is a lawyer from Universidad de Chile and has focused her career in insolvency proceedings, having additionally experience in commercial and regulatory law. She holds diplomas in Regulation and Public Law (2017) and Insolvency Law (2014). She worked at the Superintendency of Insolvency and Entrepreneurship as Head of the Insolvency Proceedings Subdepartment (2016 - 2021) and an Auditor of the same Subdepartment (2015). She was Legislative Advisor to the Superintendency in the development of the current Insolvency Law in force in Chile (2012-2014). She participated in the generation of the modernization project of Law No. 20.720, which is currently being processed in Congress. She worked as a Senior Associate in the Banking and Finance team of Morales y Besa, concentrating her practice in local and international financing and project finance, advising both financial institutions and companies; she also participated in the review and analysis of insolvency cases, financial analysis of companies, participated in refinancing of companies subject to Judicial Reorganization Agreements, as well as in refinancing of companies through credit granted by banking institutions (2021-2022). Member of the Committee of Experts of the Chilean Bar Association in Bankruptcy Law, named as Rising Star by the Legal 500 publication in Banking and Finance (2022). She is currently a founding partner of Vergara y Sáez Abogados, a law firm where she provides guidance, advice and legal defense services in Restructuring, Insolvency and Taxation matters to companies.
