Rocío Vergara

Rocío Vergara is a lawyer from the Universidad de Chile and has focused her career on insolvency proceedings. She also has experience in commercial and regulatory law. She worked at the Superintendency of Insolvency and Entrepreneurship as Head of the Insolvency Proceedings Subdepartment (2016 - 2021); Supervisor of the Insolvency Proceedings Subdepartment (2015). Previously, she was Legislative Advisor of the Superintendency of Bankruptcy (2012-2014). In insolvency matters, she has participated in the proposal for the modernization of Law No. 20,720 currently being processed in Congress. She was appointed to the Women Experts Committee of the Chilean Bar Association in Insolvency Law (2021). She also holds the following certificates: • Universidad de Chile, Graduate Certificate in Regulation and Public Law (2017). • Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, Graduate Certificate in Bankruptcy Law (2014). She currently works as a Senior Associate in the Banking and Finance team of Morales y Besa and concentrates her practice on local and international financing of companies, project finance, and corporate restructurings.
