Pamela Benzán Arbaje

Pamela Benzán Arbaje is a graduate of the LL.M. program of the University of Cambridge, with a concentration in Intellectual Property, Competition Law, International Investment Law and Law and Economics, as well as from UNIBE law school, where obtained a summa cum laude law degree. Her main practice areas are Corporate and Business, Mergers and Acquisitions, International Trade and Investments, Bankruptcy and Insolvency, Alternative Dispute Resolution, Intellectual Property, Consumer Law, Competition Law, Project Finance, Banking, Insurance and Securities. She participates in complex transactions and negotiations with local government entities, multinationals, top-tier investment banks and international corporations established in the Dominican Republic, as well as in civil, commercial and criminal litigation cases, the latter regarding infringement to the Intellectual Property Laws and regulations. Moreover, has a very active role in most of the insolvency procedures conducted so far in the Dominican Republic under new Bankruptcy Law 141-15, both as counsel of debtors and creditors, and expert ancillary of the trustee. She is also the current coordinator of the observatory of restructuring procedures of the Dominican Chambers of Commerce Federation (FEDOCAMARAS) and advises the Restructuring Commission and Legal Department of the Chamber of Commerce and Production of Santo Domingo on restructuring matters. Co-author of the Restructuring and Insolvency publication of Getting the Deal Through since 2018, as well as in the Dominican Chapter of the America's Restructuring Review of Global Restructuring Review (GRR). She is also co-author in other recognized international publications on merger and acquisitions and is a continuous collaborator of the “Year in Review” publications of the American Bar Association, regarding Intellectual Property Law, as well as of the project “Women, Business and the Law” of the World Bank Group. Works as a senior legal counsel in the Santo Domingo office of Guzmán Ariza, a top tier firm in the Dominican Republic, advising clients and assisting the partners in the main Corporate and Business transactions and insolvency procedures. Has been ranked as a recommended lawyer in the Legal 500 Latin America survey and its an active member of the International Women's Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and INSOL International.
