Muriel Mercado

Muriel Mercado (Montevideo, 1998) is a Uruguayan lawyer with a law degree from Universidad de la Empresa and a postgraduate diploma in Corporate Advisory Law from Universidad de Montevideo. Her practice focuses on corporate advisory, particularly in corporate and contract law. Her main academic interests include corporate governance — especially directors’ liability and fiduciary duties. Her interests also extend to corporate finance and corporate sustainability. She is the author of a monograph on the duty of care and the business judgment rule, published in the Revista de Derecho Comercial y de la Empresa, a Uruguayan academic journal. She has delivered academic presentations on public policy considerations and the mandatory nature of corporate law provisions at commercial law conferences held in Uruguay. She is a member of the Uruguayan Bar Association and of the Uruguayan Institute for Tax Law Studies.
