José Zambrano
José holds a Summa Cum Laude law degree from Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and is a founding member of USFQ’s Corporate Law Research Group. He is currently pursuing a diploma in Finance at UDLA and a Master’s in Financial, Banking, and Insurance Law at Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar. Professionally, he works in Ecuador as an in-house lawyer at a U.S.-based fintech company with a presence in several Latin American countries, focused on financial inclusion through mobile phone financing and the provision of digital credit. In academia, he has served as a teaching assistant and is currently an adjunct professor at USFQ, teaching Corporate Law, Commercial Law, and Business Insolvency. He has published articles in indexed academic journals and has participated as an oralist in international arbitration competitions, including the International Arbitration Competition organized by UBA, where USFQ won first place in 2024, as well as the Willem C. Vis Moot in Vienna (Austria) in 2025, organized by UNCITRAL. His undergraduate thesis on post-bankruptcy financing was recognized as the best in his class, solidifying his interest in business insolvency and financing.
