Francisco J. Garcimartín
Francisco Garcimartín is a Professor of Private International Law at the Autonomous University of Madrid. He is also a consultant for the law firm Linklaters. Professor Garcimartín is regarded as one of the leading Spanish and European authorities in the fields of insolvency law, cross-border insolvency, private international law, and international commercial litigation. He is the co-author, along with Professor Virgós, of the book The European Insolvency Regulation: Law and Practice (The Hague, Kluwer, 2004). He has also written other internationally recognized works such as Company Law and Conflict of Laws (Edersa, 2002) and Private International Law (Thomson Reuters-Civitas, 2014), and he is the author of numerous national and international publications in prestigious scientific journals on topics such as international litigation, cross-border insolvency, and other areas related to private international law. Professor Garcimartín has represented the Spanish Government as a national expert in various international organizations such as UNIDROIT, UNCITRAL, the Hague Conference on Private International Law, and the Council of the European Union. He has been a member of the group of experts appointed by the Spanish Securities Market Commission (CNMV) to work on the reform of the clearing, settlement, and registration system. He is also part of the expert group advising the European Commission on matters of insolvency.
