Douglas W. Arner
Douglas W. Arner is the Kerry Holdings Professor in Law and Associate Dean (Taught Postgraduate) at the Faculty of Law, University of Hong Kong. He co-founded and directs several programmes, including the LLM in Compliance and Regulation, LLM in Corporate and Financial Law, and the LITE and EAIEL initiatives. He is also Associate Director of the HKU FinTech Academy, a Senior Visiting Fellow at Melbourne Law School, and serves on advisory boards and as a non-executive director in the financial sector. A specialist in economic and financial law, regulation and development, Douglas has authored or edited 18 books and over 150 articles, including The RegTech Book and Reconceptualising Global Finance and its Regulation. He leads major research projects on FinTech, RegTech, and financial inclusion, and developed the MOOC Introduction to FinTech, with more than 100,000 learners worldwide. He has been a visiting professor at leading universities such as Harvard, Duke, NUS, and McGill, and has advised international organisations including the World Bank, ADB, UN, and APEC. Douglas holds degrees from Drury College, Southern Methodist University, and the University of London.
