Adrián Thery
Adrián Thery is a partner in Garrigues’ Restructuring and Insolvency Department, where he mainly advises on out-of-court refinancing processes, corporate restructurings and Spanish and cross-border court proceedings. For his professional work, he has received Europe-wide recognition in the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards: 2009 edition (“Industrial lease in an insolvency”) and 2011 edition (“Accelerating a company-saving approval”). Likewise, the 2013 edition of the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards highlighted the legal solution he proposed in the “Juguetería Poly” case, the wording of which was later incorporated into the Spanish Insolvency Act through article 146 bis, introduced by Royal Decree-Law 11/2014 of September 5. He is the Spanish contributor to the World Bank’s panel of experts and a founding member of the Spanish Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA). In December 2015, he was appointed as a member of the European Commission Expert Group responsible for drafting legislative proposals on restructuring and insolvency in the European Union. Adrián is a regular speaker at national and international seminars and conferences, and the author of numerous academic articles on insolvency law.
